Bob Riley our wonderful and righteous governor is on a moral crusade which includes putting some of the poorest state residences out of jobs and wasting our police forces one bingo hall had over a hundred cop cars in front of it. It's all I show.
He's been in here for seven years and he is just now doing it. This reeks of a conspiracy and even the most dimwitted redneck here knows it. Considering the campaign contributions he has received from Mississippi and the Choctaw Indians.
All I ask is why now he has been here for 7 years and suddenly he closes down all the illegeal casinos and why such a big show about it.

I grew up (in Mississippi) among bootleggers whose operations were common knowledge, and who would even sell to kids on bikes. Yet, the cops never busted them--the white bootleggers anyway--so payoffs were assumed. That was how the Baptists apparently liked things though because they surely could have put a speedy end to it. When liquor was finally legalized, it actually became much harder for all of us underage boozers to get a bottle.
ReplyDeleteI will have a new post up tonight that describes my own progress though the maze of religion in a little more detail. I thought of you a good bit as I wrote it.
You have quite an eye-catching blog photo there, but are some of the words cut off? All I can make out is "& just forget the world?". Seems like there should be more to it. Also seems like the world is not something that you are prone to forget.
Intersting history my father actually drove illegal bootleger cars and made a lot of many off it.He was pretty wild when he was younger I'm told.
ReplyDeleteIt became harder to get liqour when it was legan intersting I'm pro marijuana legaliazation and I often argue if it becomes legal it will make it harder for kids to get it. I'll remember this story.
I'll read your pos. I'm surprised you thought of me.I read some your blog posts we have a lot of thoughts in common.
Maybe I'm a teenage female version of yourself. LOL
Thank you for the compliment on my blog picture. I can't remember the website I got it off of. None of the words are cut off it is the lyrics to a 'Snow Patrol' song 'Chasing Cars'.

LOL I guess we don't know the obvious parts of our personality until someone points it out
Here's another link for you: http://www.alabamaatheist.org/
ReplyDeleteI also found one for North Alabama Atheists, but I didn't copy it because I don't know where you are. You can get it off the Missississippi Atheists blog--if not off of the above.
"Maybe I'm a teenage female version of yourself."
I was still struggling to hold on. I didn't have faith, but given the time and place (rural Mississippi in the 1960s), I was unable to contemplate any other option.
You describe yourself as a closet atheist. Does this mean you are utterly alone? Do you--or your family--go to church, and, if so, what kind?
I would be honored to have you follow my blog, by the way.
My family does not go to church, but O go to a christian school.
ReplyDeleteAll the books have a very conservative outlook. My grammer book in order to warn against jargon and fancy language as an example to not believe evolutionist who use scientic dialoge.
It's realy hard to state my poltical feelings and I tend to get accused of being a welfare monger or communist.
Compared to the 60's Misssippi I shouldn't complain. At least the internet gives you a look into like minded people.
The history books are very biased even my teacher doesn't like them. I'm on the civil war and the book heavily praises the Confedracy and accuses the most outspoken
abolishionist of being fanatics.
One of my friends said "I think these people are pro-slvery."
I can not follow you right now sorry, but I do click your profile picture and look at your blog for updates evey couple of days to a week
Oh, my god, a Christian school--all white, I assume. Well, I guess you have a lot to put up with. You're what is it--16? So, another two years, and you'll be out of there.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the people who accuse you of being a Communist could define the word if their lives depended upon it.
"...accuses the most outspoken abolishionist of being fanatics."
Damn abolitionist fanatics! The South would have gotten around to freeing the slaves on its own in another 200 years or so, so why did those idiot Yankees have to get all pushy?
" I do click your profile picture and look at your blog for updates evey couple of days to a week"
I can also tell you when I publish something, which I just did, actually.
There is one black girl actually.
ReplyDeleteI always wondered what would have happened to the slaves if the south had won. I think it would have gone on for a generation, but would have eventually stopped due to the slaves fleeing free territory close by and I doubt the north would have enforced the fugitive slave law and would have encouraged slaves to mock the south.
If their would have been an apartheid like situation which like South Africa would have lasted around the 80's.
That is if the confedracy didn't collapase by then due to how unstable the government was.
A confedracy is not nearly as strong as a federation, but try telling that to tea baggers.
"There is one black girl actually."
ReplyDeleteHow did that come about? Private Christian schools originated in the 1960s, the impetus being to avoid integration. I suppose it would now be too risky to deny access because of race, but I should think that your one black girl would feel like an odd duck. Does she make out okay, do you think?
She faces no racism at all actually. It is very small and is very family like,
ReplyDeleteIt was only made a couple of years ago and our teachers our northerners.
The thing I love about my school is how smalll and family like it is.
One teacher actually brings her baby to class and we get to play with her when she is not busy or teaching then the other teacher handle her.
